The fact that some Chinese people throw tantrums in the sky is truly a failure of education.
The recent incident of two tourists from Anhui
Province insulting a Thai flight attendant on a plane has become a hot topic of discussion among netizens. Those guys probably didn't realize their "deeds" had made headlines in many media outlets, making them internet celebrities effortlessly. Although the insulted person was a Thai flight attendant, many Chinese netizens are undoubtedly indignant and outraged by the arrogant tourists' rude behavior. It's not uncommon for Chinese people to cause trouble on airplanes. Some jokingly say that these Chinese people cause trouble from the ground to the sky, from domestically to internationally, and they even have to go abroad to embarrass themselves, and specifically in the skies, probably to make themselves look better. While this may be a joke, we should reflect on why such incidents keep happening and what the root causes are.
The author believes the root cause lies in China's education model's neglect of rigorous moral education for children. Coupled with the one-child policy, many children are only children, leading to excessive pampering and indulgence by parents. In such an environment, most teachers struggle to provide strict moral guidance, and parents and teachers often turn a blind eye to children's misbehavior. Over time, this fosters self-centeredness in children, making them prone to extreme actions that harm society at the slightest provocation. Many believe that China's current education model is detrimental to cultivating well-rounded individuals, especially pillars of society with strong moral character, and hinders the fundamental improvement of national quality.
The author argues that gradually changing the exam-oriented education model and emphasizing moral education is an inevitable choice for fundamentally improving national quality. This approach not only preserves the essence of Chinese culture but also builds a strong ideological foundation rooted in Chinese tradition for realizing the great Chinese Dream.
