Having a child is no big deal

Xiaojing's due date is approaching, and which hospital to give birth in has become a daily topic of debate in the family.

Xiaojing's husband thought they should go to the First People's Hospital because it's the largest hospital in the city, with the best doctors and the most advanced equipment. Xiaojing's mother-in-law, however, thought they should go to the Women and Children's Hospital, believing it specializes in childbirth and that they'd been doing their prenatal checkups there, so it couldn't be wrong. Xiaojing's father-in-law insisted on sending his daughter-in-law to the Second People's Hospital, for a simple reason: the vice president there was his classmate, and no matter how good the hospital was, it couldn't compare to having an acquaintance there—it would be easier to get things done with connections…

The whole family argued about this every day, eventually comparing prices from three different hospitals. They found the biggest difference was only two or three thousand yuan, which was practically useless. With the due date fast approaching, they still hadn't decided which hospital to go to!

This Monday, Xiaojing's husband went to work, her in-laws went to the nearby supermarket to buy groceries, and she stayed home alone to rest. While eating an apple, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her stomach. Looking down, she saw she was bleeding! Xiaojing immediately called her husband, but his phone was off; he was probably in a meeting. She then quickly called her in-laws' phones, but neither answered. They must have been too noisy in the supermarket to hear her.

Xiaojing forced herself to calm down and immediately dialed 120. The Sixth People's Hospital was the closest there, so the ambulance should be theirs. After hanging up, Xiaojing thought to herself: The whole family has been arguing for months, and I never imagined I'd give birth at such an inconspicuous place as the Sixth People's Hospital. How ridiculous! But she waited and waited, and the ambulance never arrived. Her stomach pain intensified, so Xiaojing dialed 120 again, only to be told that the ambulance was stuck in traffic and hadn't moved an inch.

With no other option, Xiaojing grabbed her wallet and struggled to go out and hail a taxi, but as soon as she stepped out of the house, she was in too much pain to walk. Just then, a neighbor lady returned from her morning exercise and saw Xiaojing lying on the ground. She immediately started wailing and screaming, attracting the attention of the entire neighborhood. Everyone quickly lifted Xiaojing and rushed her to the community clinic, which was only fifty meters away from the residential area.

An hour later, when Xiaojing's husband and in-laws arrived at the clinic after being notified, their chubby baby boy had already been born. Upon discharge, they even had change left over from the 1000 yuan bill!
